KREATE 2025: COEP Wins Top Honors at Kalika Steel’s Sustainability-Themed Competition

Pune: Kalika Steel successfully concluded the third edition of its flagship initiative, KREATE 2025, on Vishwakarma Day in Jalna.

Themed “Celebrating Sustainability – A Tribute to the Changemakers,” KREATE 2025 inspired students of architecture, civil, and structural engineering to transform steel into creative symbols of resilience and purpose.

COEP Wins Top Honors at KREATE 2025

Among the three top-winning teams, students from the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) brought pride to the city by securing a coveted prize worth ₹1,00,000.

Their trophy design stood out for its innovative concept and emphasis on sustainability. Joining COEP in the winners’ circle were teams from P R Pote Patil College of Engineering, Amravati, and Thakur College of Architecture, Mumbai, whose entries also impressed the jury with unique interpretations of the theme.

Consolation Prizes Recognize Creative Designs

In addition to the top awards, three teams received consolation prizes of ₹10,000 each. These included N D M V P Sharadchandra Pawarji College of Architecture, Nashik; Kolhapur Institute of Technology (KIT’s), Kolhapur; and Dr Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture, Pune. Each entry showcased creativity in honoring changemakers through thoughtful design.

Inspiration from Real Changemakers

The designs in KREATE 2025 drew inspiration from real-life figures driving environmental and social change in India.

Participants looked up to Shikha Shah, Founder & CEO of Scrapshala, who champions sustainable lifestyles through upcycling; Puran Singh Rajput, Co-founder & COO of EF Polymer, who creates biodegradable soil enhancers from fruit waste; and Gauri Mirashi, Co-founder of EcoSattva Environmental Solutions, who leads ecosystem and river restoration initiatives. Each student team incorporated TMT steel bars to symbolize resilience and transformation.

Jury Applauds Innovation at KREATE 2025

The grand finale of KREATE 2025 was held at Gokul Lawns, Galaxy Hotel, Jalna, where 50 finalist teams presented their prototypes. Their work was evaluated by an esteemed jury comprising Ar Yatin Pandya, Principal Architect, Footprints E.A.R.T.H., and structural engineer Sanjay Jamkar of Archi Dtales.

Ar. Yatin Pandya said, “The concept of KREATE 2025 goes beyond a conventional design competition, giving students the opportunity to apply technical learning to real-world challenges. Their creativity, originality, and focus on sustainability were remarkable.”

Sanjay Jamkar added, “The innovation, structural understanding, and creative use of steel demonstrated by the students were highly impressive. Competitions like KREATE 2025 truly bridge classroom learning with real-world applications.”

KREATE 2025 Scales Up Participation

Launched in 2024, KREATE began as a platform for young architects and engineers to design with purpose. While its debut edition attracted 600 students from 70 colleges across 21 districts, KREATE 2025 scaled up significantly, drawing over 1,000 teams from 26+ districts of Maharashtra.

Director of Kalika Steel, Govind Goyal, said, “KREATE 2025 reaffirmed our belief that young minds can become changemakers by channeling creativity into sustainability. This initiative allows students to not only learn about steel theoretically but also experience its strength and transformative potential firsthand.”
